About Boarding Up Epsom: An Independent Boarding Up Company
Boarding Up Epsom is an independent boarding-up company serving Epsom and the surrounding area. We have over 10 years’ experience making damaged property safe. We’re fully insured and DBS-checked, and a person answers the phone 24 hours a day. Our work is securing broken windows, forced doors, damaged shopfronts, roofs and empty buildings, and we do it with care.
This page explains who we are, how a job runs from the first call to the finished boarding, and what you can expect from us.
A local boarding up service that does one job
We don’t sell kitchens or fit conservatories, and we don’t pass your call to a national dispatcher. Boarding up is what we do. That focus matters when you’ve just found a smashed pane, a door hanging off its hinges or a shop window cracked across.
Our work covers:
- Window boarding for houses, flats and commercial premises
- Door boarding, including securing damaged doors, frames and locks after forced entry
- Shopfront and commercial boarding for shops, offices, restaurants and warehouses
- Roof and skylight boarding
- Securing vacant and void properties by boarding their windows and doors
You can read how each one works on our boarding-up services page.
Who we work for
Most of our calls come from four kinds of customer:
- Householders who’ve had a break-in, a stray ball through a window or storm damage and need the opening closed so they can sleep.
- Shop and business owners who need the premises secure before they can leave, or before staff arrive the next morning.
- Landlords dealing with damage at a tenanted property, or an empty one between lets.
- Letting and managing agents who need a reliable contact for properties they look after but don’t live near.
The process is the same for all of them. Each customer needs a clear answer on the phone and a fair quote. Then the job needs doing properly, with paperwork you can use afterwards.
How we work
You speak to a person
Whoever rings us, at whatever hour, gets a person on the line. We’ll ask for your postcode, what’s damaged, roughly how big the opening is, and how easy it is to reach. If you can safely take photographs, they help a lot. Please stay clear of broken glass or anything that looks unstable to get them.
From your postcode we’ll work out an arrival time and tell you on the call. We attend at any hour, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. If you need someone tonight, our 24-hour emergency boarding-up page sets out what to do while you wait.
The quote comes before the work
You’ll get a free, clear quote on the phone before anything starts. We don’t put prices on the website because no two jobs are the same. The quote depends on:
- the number and size of openings
- height and access, such as upper floors, roofs, skylights or ladder work
- the materials and board thickness
- the fixing method, including security or anti-tamper fixings
- whether a damaged door or frame needs securing first
- any debris or broken glass to make safe
The pricing page explains how each of these changes the scope of the job.
The van comes prepared
Our van carries boarding stock and fixings, so we can usually get on with the job once we arrive. For most openings we use exterior-grade plywood, typically 18mm. OSB is often suitable for smaller openings. Where security matters, we use anti-tamper fixings, which make the boards harder to remove from outside.
We respect the building
Where the frame allows, we fix boards without causing more damage. Plenty of Epsom’s buildings deserve that care. The town centre conservation area runs along the High Street and into West Street, South Street, Waterloo Road, Ashley Avenue and Upper High Street, and many buildings on those streets are listed. Some are Regency, Victorian and Edwardian town houses now used as offices or restaurants, and there are period shop terraces too. On older frames especially, we’d rather talk through options than drill without thinking.
If a frame is too badly damaged to take a board in the usual way, we’ll explain the options to you first. We won’t press on and present you with a surprise afterwards.
What you get at the end
When we leave, you should have:
- Made-safe openings, closed and secured as agreed on the call
- An itemised invoice showing exactly what was done
- Time-stamped before and after photographs
- A written statement of the work
That documentation is useful if you’re claiming. Your insurer decides what’s covered. We’re not loss adjusters or legal advisers, but we give you clear records to pass on. Our insurance claims guide covers what to keep and when to send it.
After a break-in, report it to the police and keep the crime reference number. Then contact your insurer and photograph the damage, but only if it’s safe to do so.
Boarding gets the property secure and weatherproof today. It also gives you the time to arrange the right glazier or door fitter for the permanent repair.
Why people choose us
We think it comes down to a few things:
- Experience. We’ve spent over 10 years making damaged property safe, so we’ve seen most combinations of broken frame, awkward access and bad weather.
- Trust. We’re fully insured, and you can see the certificate on request. We’re DBS-checked, which matters when we’re working at your home or a business with stock inside.
- Straight talking. You get the quote before the work, no prices plucked out of the air, and no promises about timings we can’t keep.
- Being local and independent. We cover Epsom and nearby places including Ewell and Ashtead. Stoneleigh, Langley Vale and Epsom Downs are covered subject to confirming on the call. See our areas we cover for details.
Talk to us
If something at your property needs securing, give us a ring. Have your postcode ready, tell us what’s damaged and roughly how big it is, and send safe photographs if you can. We’ll talk through access, give you a quote and agree the next step with you.
